i wanted to change the oil in my 92 ultras supercharger but when i went to DIY.com it said

"Units produced in the years 1992 & 1993 were sealed, and no provisions exist for checking or changing oil"

is this true?
anyone know?

thanks in advance

Supercharger Oil

Just changed the supercharger oil on my 98 Regal GS, if you check out the snout on your supercharger it should have a small allen head cap that has to be removed in order to change fluid if it does the correct part number for a 8 oz. bottle from GM is 12345982 it takes 2 bottles and that should bring the level to the top of the treads.
If your doesn't have this allen screw just check with any GM parts Dept.

Hope this is of some help

series I blower is an m62 not the series II m90..i dont think there is a place to drain the oil

thanks for the replys.
ill check again for the plug.
is it directly below the snout?
just left,right?

KSHEF. how did you get a ultra to run 14.5 and get 33mpgs?
maybe ill get one in place of my 95 regal

andrew

ultras have lower gear ratio (2.93:1 i think) than other supercharged 3.8s....the transmission always wants to find overdrive, runs 1850rpm at 70mph....33mpg is my best on a 1hr road trip, driving like grandpa...i usually get consistent 32mpg..if i'm on it alot i'll get 28-29mpg highway

SERV. MAN. UPDATE - SEC. 0B SCHED. MAINT. SUPERCHARGER OIL #93-0-2A
SUBJECT: SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE - SECTION 0B-SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE OF SUPERCHARGER OIL AND NEW SERVICE PROCEDURE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1991-93 PARK AVENUE/ULTRA (VIN 1)

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO UPDATE THE ILLUSTRATION. PLEASE REPLACE BULLETIN NUMBER 93-0-2 WITH THIS BULLETIN.

This bulletin is an advisory concerning required maintenance of the supercharger oil level on the 3800 (L67) engine. The procedure for checking the oil level is also included.

INSPECT:

------- * Check oil level every 30,000 miles (50,000 km) or every 36 months.

Figure 1

CAUTION:
DO NOT REMOVE OIL PLUG WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARM. REMOVING THE OIL PLUG AT WARM ENGINE TEMPERATURES CAN CAUSE HOT OIL TO OVERFLOW. THIS COULD RESULT IN OIL LOSS AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

REMOVE:

------ 1. Wiring harness shield.

2. Oil plug.

NOTICE: * The oil level should be maintained to the bottom of the plug threads. Do not use petroleum based oil. When adding oil use only GM P/N 12345982 synthetic oil. Failure to do so may cause supercharger failure.

INSTALL:

------- 1. Oil plug. Ensure 0-ring is in place on oil plug.

2. Torque plug to 10 N.m (88 lb.in.).

3. Wiring harness shield.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

NOTE: WHEN ADDING OIL, USE ONLY GM P/N 12345982 SYNTHETIC OIL

Dude! Thanks!

i'll have to check it out

in the DIY manual, it said that the blower was sealed but then it had a recomended oil for it. so i'll post when i have the answer for sure.

32mpg! my 95 regal get 28 at the best.

thanks again

ENGINE OFF, remove the oil fill plug. you will need a pump action spray bottle. un-screw the pump action gun from the bottle. install the straw into s/c oil through the hole where you un-screw the s/c plug and pump away till the oil is emty. the good think about the straw is that you can move around the bottom of the oil can pick up some of the contaminant. the best way to cleam the oil compartment is to remove the sout (but that a different storie)I will remove the s/c oil and let is settle in a plastic bottle. you will notice alot of solid (mud) settle at the bottom of the s/c oil compartment. I normally pore back some of the s/c oil into the s/c for a second and third cleaning (oil removal). it will help remove most of the contaminant from the bottom of the oil compartment.

Also i don`t use the GM s/c but i think you should. I alway replace my s/c with AREO SHELL Turbine oil. here is some info on the turbine oil.

look up AERO-SHELL TURBINE ENGINE OIL 500.
http://www.shell.com/home/Framework...s/turbine_engine_oils/turbineengine_0904.html

aero-shell has a very high level of "ester" which is the kep lubricating propertie.

there is a oil drain plug as indicated in the diagram.
thanks alot for everyones help and advice.
