95 3.8 the same?

A friend of mine is giving me a 95 olds 3.8 n/a. I was wondering if this block is the same is the l67 in my 98 gtp? I know it would have higher compression etc but I was gonna put a VS cam in it and some forged pistons, port the heads etc. I just need to know if it's the same. Thanks!

I'm assuming he still has the engine cover on it? If it says Series II, it's the same. I know some models did receive the Series II in 95, but not sure which ones.

The engine itself doesn't have the cover anymore. But I'll check the one he put in the car to replace it. Also is the rod length different?
