I just got a 99 Regal GS s/c 3800. I've never had a s/c motor before. What kind of maintenance should I do? Also, what are some good cheap mods to start with? How much HP can the stock motor and transmission handle when driven hard 50% of the time?

First mods should be a CAI, smaller pulley (3.4") and DHP pcm. Then take it to a muffler shop and have them get rid of the "u-bend" after the cat where the o2 sensor is at. Ive seen these motors handle over 500hp with no problems. Mine hit 338fwhp and 340fwtq before I went to bigger injectors and tuned some more. With those numbers best I ran was a 13.3 @ LACR. With new injectors and some tuning I ran a 12.5 @ LACR. So im thinking the engine is making close to 400hp (around 350-360 to the wheels) Also if its got low miles and the trans is fine, put in a thrasher shift kit and a trans cooler. I used Mobile 1 synth trans fluid and have 180k miles on the stock trans. Ran slicks and rand the car hard and never had trans issues. Some people think that synth trans fluid will make you trans slip but thats only if you change the fluid out and the trans was already bad to begin with. PM me for more info!

depending on miles id start with some basic stuff!! on thing i do is change the supercharge oil every 10,000 miles! u dont have to they call for 30,000. im just weird like that! also if u go to a 3.4 pully i would get a 160 drilled t stat, 2 ranges colder plugs i run ngk 55's and a 3 inch d/p to help flow! and have fun on thing that sucks atleast with my GTP is i broke 2 trannys,4 wheel hubs,4 cv joints, and factory motor mounts! even when these cars are bone stock the tranny will go as well!! i think my suspension went because i was hard on it!! enjoy the whine!!!!!! of the blower! these are great daily when i buy a new truck i plan on turbo kit!! o ya a good supercharger belt is a must to help slip issue!! i run a gatorback
