Thanks a lot for your thoughts and prayers, yea Brian that was me.

They had to cut the doors off my car to get me out but strangely enough I could have walked away or so I felt. So far I have some sore legs, shoulder, neck and wrist. Speeds haven't been determined yet but it's pretty evident in the video I was just tooling along (thank God) and he was going at a pretty good clip.

Without a doubt one's life can take a turn for the worst even when we think we're safe and quiet.

I have photos at the scene and will post them when the investigation is concluded.

Holy smokes man!!!!!! Glad you are ok! From the looks of your car it must have been one heck of an impact. Daniel Ray

Man-o-man...

Saw that in the local news last night. SCARY ! The camera on your cruiser puts you right behind the wheel. I eas watching and turning the wheel to the right with you at the same time. They showed it more than once here in Miami TV during the course of the day.

Glad to know you are ok. My nephew is a detective.

What an eye opener. Glad you are doing fine. I saw what looked like another cruiser in the video that you had just passed. Was something going on there? Did he hear or see it and respond?

Unbelievable! Glad you came thru this OK. Hopefully the dept has someone you can talk to about what you went thru. Hope they give you plenty of time off to get yourself back 100%.

Thank goodness that you made it out. My wife was just telling me about a head-on collision that happend this morning where a 17 year old boy hit a mother of two. Neither one survived. The woman had a 5 year old and a @17 year old son who happened to be a football teammate to the driver. She had just dropped her kids off at school and the teenager was headed to school. From what I understand the boy had lost his father in a crash about two years ago and the mother had lost a daughter in an earlier crash as well. I was in single car accident where the car rolled over twice. There was 5 of us and although the car was totaled no one was hurt. You never know what is going to happen. So we both have something to be thankful for. Please keep the families of the deceased in your thoughts and prayers

I've actually wrecked a car on the street at 120 mph...spun out about 10 times because I swirved to miss a slight curve in the road...nailed some trees in the process and flew off the road into a ditch full of water about 3 feet deep...was wearing my seatbelt and I probably wouldn't be here today if I hadn't...long story why I was going that fast but needless to say I've worn my seatbelt ever since then...

I thought my partner was in that driveway for some reason and it didn't turn out to be her. It was one of our deputies assigned to another area. I'm not sure if he was following up on something, lived there or visiting someone but needless to say he was at the crash within 30 seconds.

When I get back to work I plan on stopping by his parents home and giving my condolences since he lived with them. Apparently they've been calling my Dept. asking about my condition.

D,

Just heard about this happening. Talked to Jim P and he told me about the whole thing. I don't watch the local news much. Make sure you make good use of that Hot Tub. Video is surreal. Was it a windy night that night? If he was flying around that curve at high speeds and caught a gust of wind that could have made him swerve like he did. Glad you made it out of that. We will for sure have to hook up next summer for a car show or cruise.

I've often wondered what happens before we show up.....................that's one way it goes down. Glad you are ok and you can tell that center divided line is passing by very slowly. the "black box" out of that car should tell you most every thing

I've also been through a very violent crash , we rolled a chevette while traveling 70mph (top speed) it did several barrel rolls and did 3 end over end flips (I remember counting them) hit a tree 9 feet in the air and landed on the roof.... worst 40 minutes of my life was waiting to be extricated from the wreckage.... of four occupants only I was wearing a seat belt, the other 3 were flung out during the first series of rolls...
I totally know what you mean about wanting to walk away... I did... only bruises....

the others were hurt... lots of broken bones and stitches

Lady luck was with us too....

Glad your okay... quite a crash to survive....

Yea Dan it was me.

I just found out today the hospital showed the other driver's blood alcohol level at .28 which is the reason for the erratic driving. The legal limit in Michigan is .08.

Wow!

I am glad to hear you came out ok - that is amazing!.

Usually it seems to be the other way around... the drunk walks away after killing the family of four.

I have a bad habit of not wearing my seatbelt all the time. I will definitely be remembering to buckle up now.

I hope you have a speedy recovery and are able to get back to work soon.

Update

I just received word that the driver who hit me had a cocktail of alcohol and cocaine in his system with an official BAC of .23.

MORAL of the STORY - Don't drink and drive. Especially with cocaine in your system and no seat belt.

*** Video ***

I've just finished an educational video outlining my fatal crash incident with an emphasis on driving under the influence and not using a seat belt.

It's not dial-up friendly at 500 mb but you're welcome to download, view and share it with anyone you please.

It's my 1st video ever and would welcome any feedback [good or bad] on it's productoin. If you want to complain about what I do for a living or the fact I'm bringing up this subject I'd prefer not to hear it.

Did you get pics of the cars?

I always wondered in a crash like that where someone dies.... Were there noticeable signs or was it a case of his brains were turned into scrambled eggs? Internal injuries? I have seen pics of real bad crashes where people died but nothing noticeable as to their injuries.

Very nice!

Now I see the other car. In looking at it you can tell it took a hard hit but doesn't look like someone would have died in it. An Impala with what looks like side air-bags? Looks like most of the fatal wrecks I have seen pictures of where the car is not mangled to death but the occupants still don't survive.

I haven't gotten the nitty-gritty details on his autopsy but his death was ruled "blunt force trauma".

Happy to hear you are ok, the good lord was really looking after you on this one. Hope you fully recover soon bud.

It's very disturbing with the amount of people who think they can get away with drinking and driving. I lost a very close friend a few years ago to a drunk driver in Oklahoma. She was killed instantly and her son suffered a broken arm, leg and neck and was in a helo for well over a year while recovering. Needless to say, he's fully recovered now....but without a mother :(

I've been a Marine for 12 years now and during pass down to my Marines I always put extra emphisis on this topic. If you don't mind I would like to use your video as a training aid to get the point across even more so.

Happy your ok! :)
