Years ago I had a mechanic do some A/C work on my 87 GN. He indicated the compressor had issues but could solve whatever the problem was by grounding or ungrounding a wire. Apparently the only downside of this "fix" was that the compressor would not disengage when under close to full throttle. Any thoughts on where this wire is and what problem its masking?

The ECM opens the circuit to the ground on the dark green/ yellow stripe wire from the ECM.

This is the ground needed to make the A/C cutout relay work for the A/C compressor.

Without a ground the compressor won't run.

ECM does this normally by itself, when it gets the A/C input signal from the switch the ground is supplied by the ECM unless it is seeing WOT conditions.

Leaving it grounded still shouldn't activate the A/C but only remove the WOT kill feature.

No biggy for normal driving and the track perhaps put the ground on a switch or something.....

Or get a better ECM or check the wiring.
