That is as the saying goes... In my case it was 8 days to late and $200-300 to much. :(

I have learned that Eagle is now making steel cranks again for out TR's after seeing a vender post here on TB.
My builder called Eagle and they will have them for $575, I paid $799 just 8 days ago with Weber.

I have nothing bad to say about Weber they were very nice on the phone and took care of me but I don't feel good about the purchase. They said they were willing to help me out on some future purchases but he wasn't specific. He was not willing to give any kind of amount of a store credit. :( I am a little disappointed. I will have to order more parts for this build, don't know where I'll go at that point I guess we'll see...

And I could understand if it was 3-4 months ago but it's only been 8 days.
I guess it just my bad I just should have waited a few more days and I would have purchased the Eagle crank and not the Cat.

Ok no more whining...

Well, that sux but look at the bright side. You helped him unload a crank that would have never brought that much with the advent of the new eagle. Just get them to give you good deals on the rest of the stuff you need. Think of the bargains you will get on your next purchase with them.

I'm hopin that is the way it will work out.

Mike did say that he just got notice that his were on the way to him, doesn't sound like they are on his shelf yet. If yours was in stock at Weber, chances are they paid more for it than they could now.

Every one is selling the scat cranks right and are they better than an eagle crank!!

If you haven't received the crank yet that means he is just getting the shipment and paid alot less. If that's the car return it. If you already have it, then it was the luck of the draw.

I have made many purchases from weber. They are stand up people. Know what they are talking about and everything i have ordered was in stock.
I believe if they said they were going to give you discounts on future purchases they will. It will all work out.

Well I found out that the Eagle crank is a 4140 and the crank from Weber is a 4340, my builder says well worth the extra $$. I got a VM (I missed the call) back from Bill at Weber yesterday telling me this. I am very happy with Bill and a Weber they have been very honest and polite. I will do more business with this vendor. Thanks everyone.

That's quite the valuable piece of information. Nice. Nice to see there are some good people left in the business world.

I think you still got a better crank.

Not knocking the Eagle and I have not seen their latest LC2 crank, but per comments from my machinist on LS builds I did, I had put Eagles at the bottom of my list and went with Scats and Callies from there on out. They took less work to make right. $200 is real money, but on something like a steel crank isn't a huge deal. Especially considering the difference in materials. Just ask the S2 guys what they would have to pay for a new billet crank!!!

You paid what you get for, Eagle new cranks are made off 4140 forged and therefore a lot cheaper and like a poster above said, eagles are at the bottom of the list for poor quality and poor machining, I know the cranks from Weber are 4340 and the guys from weber go out of the way to make them right, i don't see any problem paying the extra cash, I'd say money well spent move on and be happy with your purchase.
I wonder how this will effect the prices of cranks in the market right now if you can buy the cheap cranks from eagle for $575.00, I know I purchased a 4340 forged steel from someone on the board that was high quality with an CAT SFI flexplate included for $575.00+ shipping, now that's a deal my friend. :)

I was told get an eagle turn it 10/10 and be good to go!! Lol
