i just browsed Razors alky injection site. he offers a kit for GNs for just under $500:cool: im thinking of going this route so i dont have to buy expensive race gas everytime i want to run good boost #s

however, i assume his kits are for intercooled cars. would i be able to run his kit on a hotair? anyone have one that can comment on any modifications (if any) that need to be done?

I have spoke to Razor about his kits, and he does make them for the hotair. I don't know much else about alky yet, but at some time i think i'll go that route.

Spoke to razor a while back on this. In my recollection of the conversation, Razor makes a kit for the Hot Air cars and should be around $600. You will need a 3 bar map sensor (around $80) and a special electronically controlled solenoid to prevent the alky being sucked into the intake. The injection point needs to be after the compressor outlet (in the turbo adapter). This kit may be worth 40-50 HP depending on your set-up. $12 - $15/hp is not a bad deal.

Having stated that, I have a clean HA block with good pistons. Crank, rods, head gaskets, new OEM bolts, heads, rockers, oil pan (plus bolts), ring gear, damper, etc for sale. May consider trade for a Hot Air PAC kit. :)

why would you need a 3 bar MAP sensor for a hotair? isnt 1 bar approx 14.5psi... so 2 bar would be 29psi. i wouldnt think ANY hotair cars are running more boost than a 2 bar MAP can support

maybe i have the wrong understanding of this? can someone explain?

EXACT question I asked. :D

2 Bar map is actually good for 15 PSI. This is "absolute zero to 15 PSI boost" or -15 to to 15 PSI boost. 3 Bar is good from absolute to 15+15 (30 PSI)

sorry if i keep pushing the issue, but, wouldnt that mean you cannot up boost past 15psi on our cars without upgrading the MAP as well (say you are using race gas instead of alky). i dont hear of people here upgrading to a 3 bar just so they can run past 15#s. so, again, why would you need one for alky?

for example: Brad says he runs 20psi on his basically stock car, and i dont remember him saying he had to upgrade MAP sensors. however, according to Razor, thats not possible

again, i may just be thinking out my butt

one more question... if you do indeed HAVE to upgrade, would you have to change ECMs or PROMs in order for the programming to recognize the signal (more than 15#s) from the higher MAP?

The 2 bar map sensor is for the factory dash boost gauge, reads max 15#'s.
That's the only function of the factory map sensor.
You can adjust the boost higher than that with adjustable wastegate or boost controller.
You need an aftermarket boost gauge for accurate boost reading.
I believe the 3 bar map sensor is needed for the progressive controller on Razor's kit.
HTH :D

ah... now i see. thanks Slow85. i thought the MAP sensor was somehow tied into the fuel/spark/timing tables and adjusted them accordingly depending on boost levels. i had no idea it was only for those useless colored lights on my dash!

ok, final question: do all Razors kits (or more specifically, the hotair ones) come with progressive controllers or is that an extra cost option?

Looks like the complete kits, have the progressive controller.
For a hot-air you need to add a solenoid to prevent siphoning.
6SENSE on here runs one, maybe he can add to the subject.
