ac compressor wiring

The bottom 2 prong flat plug wiring looks like its been messed up. The black wire is cut and there is a resistor that goes from one side of the plug to the other. Is that suppose to be like that. i will take pics and post up in a minute.

Yes there is a component mounted across the two wires, both of which should be hooked up BTW.

well i tried to put it back together and that component fell apart. does anybody know what it is or if i need it

It's a diode to prevent current backflow. Casper's ahould have the plug assembly...
