I finally got a new comressor and drier and am going to be installing it. I have a retrofit/recharge kit for it as well. Now my lines have been off and been driving around with no A/C for a couple years so there is no 12 currently in the system. My question is the retrofit kit comes with the cans of 134a and it says 134a and oil on each can. Do I need to get an additional can of straight oil or will the oil in the 134a cans be enough with a new compressor. I know that you still need the system evacuated of all moisture etc. Just terying to make sure I have everything needed to get it working. Thanks in advance to all that reply!

Just my .02. If you have accsses to R12 still, I'd go back with that. It's pricey but still available. It operates at a lower highside pressure and actually cools better. Be sure and replace the orfice tube as well. Only about $5.00.

I'd flush the system just in case. 90% of the Old R12 oil will be in the compressor and dryer. You're going to replace both of them. A flush of the rest of the system will also get rid of debris

Since the system has been opened Pull a vacuum and hold it for at least an hour to dry out the system.

X2 on the Orifice tube
