Advancing the cam 4 degrees

How does this affect the engine? Does it lower the advertised power band?

The correct answer is.........Maybe, maybe not. It really depends on alot of things. One thing to consider is that advancing the cam may help the power after a few thousand miles. The timing chains in these cars stretch real bad, so advancing the cam a few degrees will comensate for chain stretch. Degreeing a cam in is the best way to get things close. As the timing chain stretches, cam timing is retarded. Food for thought.
