I think the only thing that wont remain stock on my interior is the shifter.

Im thinking a ratchet shifter but wanted to see if any fit in the console nicely?

If not I will pack the console securely away and run it on the carpet.

Can I see/hear some input from anyone who has a ratchet type shifter

Thanks

The shifter is the last thing I'd change on a TR. As matter of fact, I don't think I ever would. No need.

I was curious about this too....good question. Hopfully someone submits pics of there set ups.

Here is the complete rundown of how installed a Quicksilver shifter in mine. Forget about saving the console to return to stock, you need to do some trimming under the main console plate for this to work. My GN will never return to stock as long as I own it and I don't really care about the next guy.

Was it necessary to install an aftermarket shifter? Not really, but always looking for little projects to do.

Here is the link with plenty of pics.............. http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/ge...26-quicksilver-shifter-installation-pics.html

Only complaint with the setup, you can't really tell what gear you are in by the indicator,it is close but not easily readable while driving. Since the install I had my engraver make up a new gear indicator overlay that matches up with the Quicksilver gear postions.

Here is a pic I just took of the shifter in my GN. It's a B&M "Pro Stick" with carbon fiber inserts. It works flawlessly and is "adaptable" to most popular transmissions by changing the shifter detent plate.

Claude.

I run a pro-stick, also, with Mark's overlay. Works great.

Ratchet shifters are junk INHO.I have seen too many miss a shift and cause permanent headaches.Pro stick or a Cheetah if you must;)

Mmmm...Kevin, isn't a B&M "Pro Stick" a ratchet-type shifter?...
Anyways, ratchet or not, I'm very happy with mine. I find it very "racer-friendly", especially when at the track. It also makes me more confident giving me the peace of mind of not making any wrong shift when racing. It also makes it easier for me to concentrate on driving the car and looking where I'm going!

Shifter

I posted a nearly new Pro Stick in the parts for sale section some time ago if anyone is interested.

Looks really good. Where did you get that shifter knob?!?

Heres mine...like Claude's... We basically did the same exact thing, except he wanted to save the ashtray for switchs. I only have my exhaust cutout mounted in mine.

Quicksilver here. makes it alot more fun to drive. several buddys of mine did the switch and all are very happy with it including a TSM/THR car.

dumb question...so what would be the advantage to this on a stage-right brake over the buickgn detent gate I already have?

This is turning out to be a good thread....thaks to all who chime in, good pics too got me wanting one now LOL.

If you smack your shifter coming off the brake like I do...that little factory shifter rod will make the choice for you. My factory shifter handle broke off on me on a pass at a street race and I almost over-revved it BIGTIME!!! That made my choice real easy since I have a Pro-stick in my 409 car. The pistol grip B&M is the same shifter, just different handle.
