I have an 85 hot air, previous owner lived in AZ so he thought it was a good idea to unplug the air temp sensor and cut the harness near the computer and then wire a resistor into the wire left that basically tells the ecm that its about 100 degrees outside, well it probably worked good in AZ but does not cut it up here in PA, I bought a new plug with pigtail and wire to reach the ecm, but one small snag.....

Both of the wires on the new plug are black, and being the old wiring which is supposed to be a tan (hot) and a black (Gnd) wires are not there.....(grin)......I can't tell which wire goes to the tan and which to the black...... I included a pic of the plug, it has an A and B marking on it, could someone go out to thier car and look and tell me which side the tan wire is on?

Its always the small stuff that gets ya.

So I take it you are running a 87 ECU then. The 84-85 cars don't use a IAT sensor. As far as which wire is which, it really shouldn't matter as it is just a thermal variable resistor, and should read the same resistance either way. So the previous owner may have wired in a resistor, but there is not a harness to cut off.
