When ever I do my burn out with alky, my car will die out a second or so after I let off the gas. I have noticed that when I let of the gas the spray light stays on for a little while after. What I think is happening is my car is getting too much alky after let of off the gas and flooding the motor so bad that it dies out. Any suggestion or people that has had similiar problems.
Other than that problem, the alky works great.
thanks Joe

What is your turn on point? If it is coming on during your burn out it sounds like it is too low. It could be flooding the engine when it drops back to idle

My turn on point is about 12-14 psi. I could probably go up with the turn on point, but I dont feel safe. My car has a problem with false knock, because the motor mounts are bad.
You have a good point about it dieing out on idle, because I see the light stay on almost until the boost is below 5 psi. Do you have any suggestions.
THanks joe

Well here is what I would do then:

When you go to the track, put a little xylene in to get your octane up to about 100. Then I would raise the turn on point to a solid 14-15psi. With the extra octane in the tank this should still be plenty safe.

If the alcohol still comes on, then rig a switch in the car to activate/deactivate the pump. You will have to turn the alcohol off for your burnout. DONT FORGET TO TURN IT BACK ON

You should not need 15psi for a burnout. If you do you need a higher stall converter

Thanks for the reply. I do need a bigger stall with the 51.
I will try raising the octane a little and see what happens. Unfortanutaly I will have to what for spring to come to find out.
thanks for the suggestion.

Alky will not help you with false knock. Period.

You shouldn't need the alky on during a burnout tho, I mean unless yer getting some kind of REAL KR on the burnout.

That seems really high boost for a burn out! Maybe if you let off not so abruptly. Are you sure its your alcohol that’s bringing it down?

lrover I think the reason for all the boost is because of the stock converter and 51 turbo. Once he gets a looser converter he should have no problem doing 5psi burnouts

Thanks for the suggestions. I agree with blackbuick87, I do need a different converter. I will also try to ease off the gas coming out of the burnout. I apperciate all the info.
THANKs
Joe
