my car has a detonation problem and i am told its just fuel as soon as it gets6 or so ils the detector sings i know its almost 11-1 comp. but i dont belive that is the case (couldbe wrong) i was thinking this alky kit should cure this i have been down all the other roads i just finished valves as my last guess can anyone help and let me know the theory and whatnot on the alky system i have heard good and bad but for the price i pay for fuel it is worth it if i can get it to work-also what do you guys set your valves @ i went 0 last and quarter turn i was told different am i wrong always worked great before-any comments appreciated

your compression is way too high. youre not getting any use out of your te63e. 6 psi knock doesnt surprise me. your cam also looks waaay too big. most race cams i see for TR's the numbers arent over like 245. yours look gigantic. replce the cam and put in some low compression slugs and your car should really wake up. (oh and dont forget to turn up the boost :D )

These Buick Motors are nothing like Chevy 350's. You do not need a huge compression ratio, and radical cam to wake them up.

Stock 8:1 Compression, and the stock cam will provide you with proven power into the mid-low 11's.

10.9:1...WOW! May I ask why? A buddy with a shop locally is currently developing a turbo kit for the ZO6 and with it's 10.6:1 (I believe) is getting knock at 5.5 psi boost! Even with alky you will have a hard time getting no knock at relatively low boost levels. More boost/less compression will make more power than high compression/low boost. Bet your throttle response is great, though! :D

conleys performace

conleys built the motor for this car and alot of their other cars are the same i see what you guys are saying but they are runnig some pretty quik timeswith this high comp. setup-i just havent had much luck yet the car went11.98 with 15lbs it will not take any boost w pump so you guys think i should go lower comp. and less cam? or whatwho has the cheapest pistons and cam so i can try this and also try the alky setup m

is this car intended to be a street or race car? www.gnttype.org has a LOT of info on different piston selections to look at and stuff like that. just get some forged stock compression pistons (or bore it out while you got the engine apart) and maybe a 206/206 cam or a stocker. stockers are a good cam till about low 11's i hear. you dont need a roller cam either unless you like to spend a lot of money for 5 HP. just a good mild or stock cam w/stock lifters should do well for a street car. BTW, what are your goals for the car as far as ET, MPH and streetability are concerned? i see you want to be fast on pump gas b/c you mentioned alky. what else?

I dont know. My '99 M3 has a static CR of 10.5:1, and Im running 11 psi boost and 350 rear wheel HP supported by water/alky aquamist system, no intercooler, and no detonation!

WHO DID YOU THE FAVOR OF SUGGESTING AN 11 TO 1 MOTOR........SOME CHEVY GEEK? YOUR NEVER GONNA' BE ABLE TO RUN AN APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF BOOST.
