hey everyone
i been looking around this board on the alky kit and i have some questions.

1. what are the pros?
2. what are the cons?
3. ever have any problems?
4. what kit would you recommend?

wel i think thats it and thanx in advance

from my understanding...there are no real cons to it other than if you run out of alky during a WOT with high boost, you will blow a head gasket because well the pump gas cannot support that high of boost! so make sure your bottle is always filled

the pros of it are increases boost levels without knocking with PUMP gas (this means the alky adds alot of octane point to your current pump gas, almost like race gas) you can run in full race trim on the street with alky (i dunno about race chips yet though...i don't know if the alky raises octance THAT much to support a full race chip)

it also steam cleans your entire car like intake, heads, combustion chamber, exhaust, etc.

the the kit i see most often used and most love it is the SMC alky kit...i am going to be ordering one very shortly but i hear there is a major backorder on them and it could be a full month before i see the kit!

FWIW,
I ordered a SMC kit last week and I was told the current "time ti ship date" was 10 days. So I would think it should be on my door step in two weeks.

HTH

I ordered my SMC kit today also. 7-10 days to ship he told me. We'll see how long it takes, hopefully sooner than later :)

Question from a "new" GN owner........Who sells the SMC alky kit and what does it cost??
Also, where do you buy your denatured alky in sufficient quanity
to support your normal street driving run-ins with wannabe racers...

Thanks guys

WOODY

it does not matter what kind of kit you use. smc has too much stuff to worry about. if you use a plane kit you can hide it better .the trouble with all these kits is the way you inj. the alcy. try using a nos plate type plate you will make much more power and use much less alcy.

Not necessarily.
IF you have an audible knock detector, and,
IF the factory knock sensor ckt is working normally, then
IF you back off immediately...
you should live to see another day :-)

The factory head gasket/TTY head bolts are quite stout. As are the factory pistons and crank.
It is any _sustained_ detonation that does the heavy damage.
