I just installed the smc kit, and it says to use uplon as the alky lube. I dont have a dealer near me and I was wondering if I can use anything else. Thanks in advanced

Buy a 1 gallon can of WD40. since you only use a little bit at a time it will last you forever.

I use penetrating oil from work:D

Depends on if you mix with water. run a 50/50 mix and you whouldnt need any lube at all. When I spray the lube in with a can I hold it for about 3 seconds

Straight alcohol has no lubricating qualities, which is necessary for long pump life. A shot of WD-40 (or whatever else people are recommending) lubricates the pump.

Hey Paul, you have a website? I'd like to see some pics of that M3.

No Steve. But I can describe it..Its an Alpine White '99 M3 with the spoiler and cleared out lights. I have 4 fikse 17" rims beneath a Dinan Koni suspension, lowered about an inch. Its got a Short Shift kit, and an upgraded stereo with Kenwood Excelon head unit and amp, with Polk mids and tweets, and JLAudio stealthboxes in teh rear deck replacing stock rearfill. Under hood, I have a Vortech blower and Dinan software, producing 11 psi at a 7K rpm redline. I run the Aquamist water/alky injection system with a 1mm nozzle attached to the supercharger discharge pipe about 8" in front of the throttle body. Its been dyno tested at 350 rwhp and 290 rw ft lbs, equal to approx. 400 crank horsepower, on the 3200lb car. Good for about 4.5 sec 0-60 and mid to hi 12s in the quarter.

Its my pride and joy, as well as my daily driver. Needless to say, it consumes a far disproportionate amount of my time :D

I use the Power Plus Top Lube. The manufacture is Manhattan Oils. My race fuel supplier carries this product. Summit has this product listed as p/n MOC-19769-37. One 16oz. bottle will treat 55 gal. of alcohol. The Klotz Uplon works well also. Both of these oils will blend with water. WD40 will not blend with water. WD40 displaces water. That is why Steve recomends Klotz Uplon.

IMO, I had rather use a product that is made to lub alcohol.

lube

Klotz lube---any motorcycle shop will have it. As someone stated, WD-40 will not mix with alky-Klotz is made to mix with alky or methanol

Lee why use use the Klotz techniplate, when the Uplon says specifically:

"Klotz Uplon Fuel Lube provides upper cylinder and fuel pump lubrication. Protects the induction and fuel delivery systems from the dry, abrasive properties of methanol alcohol."

Sounds like the best choice.

Just got off the phone with Klotz. Turns out their mixtures that have Caster oil won't mix AT ALL with anything that has water.

The new Uplon should mix with water at low concentrations. He wasn't very confident about a 25% water mix, but felt pretty sure 10-15% water should be ok. This should be fine, as I have a pretty high flow rate (about .8 gal/min) and only need a little water to get the positive effects of H20.

Klotz Uplon is the same stuff IRL and CART use. He said it has allowed people to stop having to "pickle" (flush/empty) the methanol after racing. Specifcally made to form a protective layer between the methanol and fuel pump seals.

In other words, Uplon is the best stuff for the job.

Well it's a Klotz product, so try the same places you have been buying the other stuff from.

If that fails, you can buy direct from Klotz. That's what I did.

Steve @ SMC carries the Klotz Uplon. Has it in stock.

With the Manhattan Oils, make sure you get the Top Lube for alky. Some of there products are for race gas.
