I understand how alcohol and nitrous work, but all in all, do they serve the same purpose? Is any more safe than the other to use on a stock un-opened motor?

They're both pretty costly, but the benefits of both are pretty good, what would one reccommend to someone who is new to the scene?

First learn as much as possible about GN's before adding either of those.
I know guys with Chevy backgrounds that kept blowing headgaskets with their GN's due to Nitrous. I also see new guys blowing headgaskets due to alky knock and getting greedy.

When you get the hang of things, IMO alky will be more realistic on a GN due to the turbo. Just add more boost and you get more power while still on 93 oct. It's pretty cheap and a 5 gallon drum ( $30 ) lasts longer than the bottle.

Nitrous will give you whatever hp you want and quickly, just keep popping pills. But IMO, you better know how to tune this stuff otherwise this one hits back with avengous. Its not as forgiving as alky knock on boost.

You contradicted yourself saying you understood. Maybe I believe you meant to say "I'm trying to understand how alcohol and nitrous woks"

The advantage to alcohol is running high boost on pump gas. This achieves the greater power.

The advantage to nitrous is cramming more air into a motor, but the rules of higher octane must be followed. Since the boost will climb when you hit the button, 110+ needs to be in the tank with nitrous.

A few of us are shooting both into a motor  with a certain amount of success. Keep reading through this forum, let it sink in.

Alky Vs N2o

Like razor said let everything set in. I got out of a 347 stroked mustang to get into a GN. I read these threads all the time and continue to learn. What I have found from this site is the only dumb question is the one not asked. I have to give props to the entire Turbo Buick community for all the help. I hooked up with a couple of local guys and have to thank them for all the help (i.e. Bobsrare6) especially!!! He steered me towards razors progressive kit. Slowly but surely the gn has begun to take shape and I have to give the overwhelming nod to alky. Razors kit rocks. thanx to all
