I have an AlkyControl system, and after a pump change last year, I noticed that it had stopped injecting progressively. Instead of the red LED coming on at about 5 or 6 PSI, I just get the green one around 10 PSI. I had e-mailed Razor about this, and he said to check the ground going to the pump. Well, I just sent the car to my buddies shop (same one who did the install) for a valve spring installation, and told him to check the grounds. He said all the wires were connected, and even ran a second ground to the pump, just to be sure.

Is there any other cause for this system to not inject progressively?

Why not just have him call and save all the back and forth

Thanks Julio.

he should be calling right now.

Never called.

When you hit test the LED should light up Red. If it doesnt, then the LED is burned out from someone hooking 12v to it. So it sounds like you have a bad LED.

But have the shop call and confirm it.

I guess his shop got busy right after I talked to him, so I hope you didn't wait around for his call, and I apologize if you did.

Anyway, when you press the test button, you don't get red. It will eventually go green, but you have to press the button for a little while.

Weird thing is, when he replaced he pump, that's all that was touched. Not sure how the LED got blown, if that's the case.

Led's only get blown when too much voltage is applied. In this case its probably been this way for a while and now being noticed. The switching circuit inside the PAC could be bad, but I seriously doubt it. Sounds like it just needs a new LED. Simple 2 wires.

Now if the the o-ring terminal wire on the pump is not grounded, the led will only show green. You can hear a relay go "click" when you turn the system on/off in the controller. If you hear the "click" sound turning it on/off .. then there is ground on the pump o-ring and definately the LED is toast.

No call today either :D

Okay, actually, I do remember something that happened after the pump was replaced. I feel like an idiot for not remembering this before, but here it goes:

When I got the car backafter the pump replacement, the gain knob was loose and the red LED on the controller had stopped working. I opened up the controller and saw that the free-spinning knob had broken the power LED connection. So, I soldered the LED back to it's connection and tightened the knob. The LED on the controller (and the system) again worked, but I THINK that's when I noticed the green out.

Did I jack up my controller by doing this, or did I somehow blow the injection-on LED?

Nope.

This is easy, if you push the test button and the "Power Injection Bulb" illuminates, then the LED(bi-colored..not the one next to the blue gain knob) should light up red. Once the pump builds 50 PSI pressure, the LED changes to green... because the pump loses ground through the switch on it.

If the power injection bulb gets brighter with boost.. then it is working progressive.
