Had the VDO GNX gauges put into my GN on Saturday... And what would you know but the needle for the MPH falls off on the ride home. To be continued! Good news is I can get it fixed, and now I will with installed LED's.

Anyone else have a GN running these gauges?

Does the needle come back up when you throw it in neutral? I just found this on mine... (The needle hasn't worked since I bought the car years ago) as I was cruising through my neighborhood I threw it in neutral to see if my brakes were sticking and the needle for the speedometer bounced up to the actual speed! My buddy says it's the gear for it in the trans pan. Idk if it's the same scenario for your gauges but worth a look :D

Yup, no issues with my VDO gauges. Have had em installed for over 5 years and they still work properly and as good as the first day installed.
If you need repairs or rebuilding of the VDO gauges, I've used North Hollywood Speedo and Clock with excellent results.

I called around... Using a guy out in North Carolina who does repairs...I tried calling North Hollywood and could never get anyone on the phone but he works with the guy in North Carolina. My needle actually popped off. He says it's a common thing if they sit for a long period time. I know it sat before I bought them off of a guy selling parts. Can easily be fixed. Going to take it out this week and ship it, longest time to repair and be shipped back out is 3 days.

Anyone using LED lights on these gauges? I know it can be done and I am going to put them in... Just was curious as to what everyone was using and what was best. Of course in looking for LED lights it's different styles etc. - I am going to put them in for the gauges and the whole dash and get it done in one shot.

I've got a bunch of LED's installed in these gauges. Don't recall what part number or bulbs I used as it was many years ago now.
If I find the information, I will post it up for you.

Note: The VDO Mechanical Speedo always seemed to be lit dimly and difficult to read at night. So I had North Hollywood Speedo & Clock install a 2nd light in the backside of another VDO speedometer they built for me at the time. Still haven't installed it yet. LOL
