I just recieved new today that as my union and company move closer to contract negotiations that a strike will not be allowed buy the government. Our union was told it falls under the new national security standards and is Illegal. Its scary how the republicans want to dismantle all unions in this country. I think it has to due with a group having enough power to stand against big buisiness. I know when the govenment aircraft screeners were denied going to a union because of national security. "the unions just slow down our processes of disiplinary action" Before long taking a Sh@T will be illegal because of national security. Numbers for the first four quarters came out today and quess what profits for large buisiness set a new record breaking the old one in 97. A 21% increase in profits do you see any trickle down to the workers no! Is there cheaper product from outsorced goods no! More jobs oportunities. I hope the WORKERS in this country wake up and go vote.

Yeah...me too. I hope they vote to make unions illegal before every job we have in America except being a waiter is sent overseas.

Ya me to I hope I can grow up and get a highly techinical job for minimum wage. Then be fired because my tie is the wrong color. Where do I sign up?

Businesses are making tremendous profits. Why not? The workforce has been desimated then hired back at 1/3 the pay part time with no benifits. The CEOs are still making the big bucks though. They got nothing to worry about. Of course if you don't like that they'll just send the jobs to India so you better shut up and take it or you could retrain to flip burgers since there are no other jobs out there. Nice economic recovery...for millionairs!

Best response Ive seen in a while!!!

Sie ficken Leute Muttern. Behalten Sie, um demokratisch zu wählen, und, warum nicht Sie macht, reichen nur dieses Land über zu Al-Queda. Traurig..

Idiot.Unions are a lazy mans best friend and I am a member of one so don't tell me I don't know what I am saying.Unions do it to themselves by demanding things way out of line. They expect the best without giving their part in return.Unions are not about US against THEM it is about a workforce collectively bargaining for a fair wage and benefits.Too many union workers make their seniority and then slack off because nothing can be done about their laziness. They act like they don't have to increase their productivity because the company will make more...duh! They just don't see that profits for their company means job security and a good image for union labor.BTW I was non union as of this time last year and made more money. My company was bought by an organized company and I was dropped to the bottom of the hill to start over again.I make less money now and have a less than prestigious job of being a Helper to a guy that knows no more than I do and works slower to boot.Matter of fact, I fix his mistakes constantly. He also makes $6 more than me ,but I can't make that because the union says so.Take your unions and cram them where the sun don't shine!

You have to ake the good with the bad. No system is perfect and the lazy syndrom is a problem only if the other members let him. Our members regulate each other and it highlights the slackers. If you made more money on your own why did you join?...heath,dental,pension,401K,soliderity?....Im just quessing here?

Im anti-union myself. There was talk of one at my job and then basically everyone here (employees) squashed it because the company would waste so much money our wonderful things like our Profit-sharing plan would go out the window. We would all lose so much money!

Unions are a thing of the past, once good for workers rights in times of large economic change and national growth, now they are bloated, manipulated by the crooked and manipulative of the company, and have certain companies by the balls. Heck thanks to the UAW GM makes $0 on every car they sell... The Non-Union jobs they have (finance, real estate, etc) is what makes their money. Now I dont know firsthand about GM's deal but I can speak of other union jobs I know of where basically your paid based on certain time and scales, and most people are MUCH MUCH more efficient than what their "scale" is but they can only do the work they are tasked with... So they finish their work fast and get paid to sit around and do Jack **** all day. Theres no incentive for them to do more, so the company wastes money.

Sorry but for regular folks in the corporate world its not as cutthroat as you describe it chevyII, and we're better off without the corrupt leeches on our workforces called unions.

Because the only other non union shops here are very small and they do not have the ability to take all of us who did not want to join.I have a family to feed and I will get back where I was eventually after dealing with all the good ole boy crap in this union.I see no good in it at all honestly just all bad.On top of it they want to TELL me to vote for that idiot John Kerry too!

Pronto,

"Businesses are making tremendous profits"

Just so we can get it out in the open, Who owns those bad old big businesses making tremendous profits? Oh, publicly traded and owned. By things like 401K programs held by people like you and me. It seems a growing business market is a growing retirement market.

Or are we supposed to believe that bad old big business just earns all our money and keeps it? It never goes anywhere again. Gone. Bad guys got it.

Is that what they teach in college economics now?

Unions have done good and bad. My Dad was an over the road driver. It took four years for the union to win the vote at the company he worked at. The line was "you can't trust the company to take care of you" over and over. The day they went union they went down on medical, dental, vacation. When Dad retired he got less and now that he died my Step Mom get even less. I saw the same thing happen at UPS.

A good case right now is the bus drivers in the Metro area of Minneapolis/St Paul. The union took them out on stike and now they aren' missed. No traffic jams, people are making it to work, and the government is saving millions of real dollars($200,000/day) the longer they stay out. There are a few special interest groups protesting for the bus drivers, but the public just doesn't miss them.

All the union wants is starting pay over 60% of the highest pay scale and 100% full paid medical (no payments or co-pays) from hire to death. And 5% pay raise now. The union came DOWN to that at the last session.

Now we have a couple of Democratic congressmen who want to take $10,000,000 out of state road construction to pay metro bus drivers. After we just did a big bond issue just so we could get the road building back on track. But the Democrats have to find a way to support the union, even if would hurt somewhere else.

Not being a union worker, I'm sure there are Unions, and then there are Unions. I have a brother in law who had been a union worker for 30 years. I think he was off with full pay for at least 20 years of it with full pay, never missing a beat in seniority. Not because there was anything wrong with him, but because he could get away with it. Him, and countless others. Companies are powerless to get rid of these union deadbeats and have to pay the freight. Either pay up, or go out of business.

Gees, I'm mad. I never got rich. I missed the boat. It's those damn money grubber corparate types, hoarding all the money, and they wouldn't let me get much of it. :( Oh well, if I vote for Kerry, the poor man's friend, that's all gonna' change.

Chevy 2,
Does the local hall have after hours grammar and spelling classes???:D :D

The latest Senator Kerry plan

He is calling for tax cuts for big business, so they can hire more workers.

He is calling for higher taxes on individuals in the higher income brackets. Are we supposed to not know what tax scales small business pay on? Are we to believe small businesses do not need the funds to hire more workers?

union = worker protection.

no sh!t they tell you to vote for john kerry. unions try to protect the workers. bush obviously dosent give a damn about them.

united we stand baby
local 101

United your job will be shipped overseas because of the low life deadbeats that exist in many unions. They give both unions and union workers who actually try to produce quality work a bad name. 20 bucks an hour to sweep a floor...come on.

"Big Business" profits is where your jobs come from..no profit=no jobs=no company

it is stupid to tax corporations because they just add the tax to their cost and press on....and that may mean a few less union jobs......

nothing wrong with unions as long as they understand where the $$ comes from and join the program

Only 12% of the work force is union and did that stop the overseas trend? Ill take the punches for my spelling I shouldn't post after the sixth beer:D
