Another Autozone part failure, this time the IAC sensor after 615 miles

The car has been running and starting great since replacing the Autozone coil. I go out to start it last night and to my surprise it just cranks over and doesn't start,i try 3 more times and the same thing happens.

I then turn the key to the on position and look at the scanmaster readings and the IAC sensor is reading 150, and i'm thinking what the heck it's new from Autozone.

I turn the engine over again and this time i push down on the gas pedal a little and it starts and runs but the idle is not right, i again look at the IAC sensor readings on the scanmaster and it's still showing 150 so i try to adjust it and it goes down to 75 but wouldn't go any lower. I then adjusted the TPS down from .44 to .38 to see if that would help the IAC numbers but it didn't.

I removed the IAC sensor and put an old one in i have as a spare. I turn the engine over and it starts right up and idles good,i look at the readings again on the scanmaster and their at 40 so i adjust it down to 20 and reset the TPS back to .44

I'm going to Autozone now and get the IAC sensor replaced since it has a 2 year warranty.

I think i'm done using Autozone parts,they worked pretty good when they used the Wells brand in the past but who ever is supplying them their parts now is not a reliable source.

+1 Autozone stuff used to be somewhat decent, but I agree, whoever is their electrical parts supplier apparently don't give a squat about if the stuff even works

I just got back from Autozone and they replaced the IAC sensor for me without any problems and that is good but it's still annoying having parts fail that in the past would last for years without a problem.

They probably have that fricken "China" crap that's taking over our parts industry. I can't believe that so many "China" crap is all we can buy now.

You're better off buying original GM parts from our vendors. May be expensive but sure saves a lot of headaches.

Does GM even make their own parts anymore? I've read that they have them made in Mexico.

I don't know why guys buy hard parts from the Zone. They sell you a life time peace of CRAP. Do we realy want to install our parts 2-3 times until we think we have a good part. OReILLY auto or GM.

We put 3 oil pressure senders in our '04 CTS before trading it in. First one was a GM, the others were from Advance, but all were made in Mexico and all leaked oil from inside the electrical connector terminal.

It appears that it's going to become harder in the future to keep our cars running with all the outsourcing of parts coming from other countries.

I remember all through the 90's of driving my turbo regals many times from Fla. and SC to Ohio,Illinois and i used the auto parts store brands of parts and i only recall once having a maf sensor fail while on the road but i had a spare with me so i didn't get stranded. I wouldn't want to try that today though.

The GM, GEN 1 Magnavox/Phillips/VDO/Siemens, IACV's were made in Mexico at least since 1999.

At least the tooling and machinery came from the USA.

I don't know where the part stores get theirs.

It's a stock GM part that rarely fails actually, more chance of the wiring and ECM going fubar first.

Biggest failure is pintle wear but even that is rare.

Normal servicing simply involves pintle and seat/housing cleaning when needed.

Im having that as one of my problems with my car right now. THe IAC in the car reads 150 so I go to vatozone and buy another valve and same thing. the difference is my breathers have pressure coming out the valve covers which i understand that the car could have more the one problem at the same time. Is it possible the 2 are related?

All Grand National parts I try to buy that were made in the US. As you said, getting harder and harder. That's a pure damn shame, isn't it?

There's a certain guitar I've been wanting for years, but it cost a fortune if it's made in the US. I can get the same guitar made in Mexico for 1/4 the price, which I will NOT do. Looks like I'll have to save for it longer.

I've had fuel pump problems all summer with my two Jeeps, and the pumps are made in China. I've even bought from four different auto parts outlets under different names, but all made in China. After 8 pumps I just parked the SOB and will tackle it another time. I just got sick and tired of draining and dropping the gas tank each time.

Alternator parts, from Advance Auto, I've been told by the counterman, are made in Korea, China, and Mexico. That's why they are cheap and have a lifetime warranty....if you like taking the damn thing out of the car five times a year. The guy told me the only way to get satisfaction is to buy one from GM or the Jeep dealer for over $350 in order to get one with all parts made in the USA.

What in the hell is WRONG with our country? I wish we all could TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!

I installed the new IAC a couple of days ago to ensure it was good. Today it started doing the same exact thing that the other one did that i took back,i removed this one and took it back and got a refund. The parts guy was reluctant to refund my money and was trying to tell me all he could do for me was to replace it with another IAC. I told him no this is the third one and i'm not going to give another one a try,and the warranty says bring it back for a replacement or a refund and i want a refund.

I put the old IAC back in that was my spare and it works perfect. It's so old i don't even remember where i got it from.
