What did the parents do? You cannot possibly watch your children 24 hours a day, every day. Heck, once a child starts going to school the parents are no longer the number one influence on the child.

.fact is you and I don't know what lead the police to search the room. from the story, sounds like it was probably a tip from some one outside the family. if the kid was being just a normal kid at home, why would the parents search him our his room?

Doesn't take much to get a label of 'behavior issues' at schools or youth centers these days. When you and I were kids we get in a fight, get in trouble, move on. now if my 9 year old defends himself on the bus after days of getting picked on AND after telling the bus driver and teachers, HE is the one with anger issues.

There is nothing in that story to insinuate that the parents are culpable and should be held responsible. If at a later time it comes out that they knew, or his so called behavior issues was something like killing cats or the like, THEN I will agree with you. Full heartedly at that.

It seems like all kids do weird things. It's just not until after something happens that you get the whole "you should have recognized the signs" speech. As a kid I was fascinated with fireworks and things that went boom. I thought it was pretty normal since all my buddies liked things that went boom too. I guess they should have just locked us all up [according to chuck anyway].
