pt52 2k 12-15 lbs when kia street driven bit the dust today gonna tear down when I get a chance really pos was looking for some miles to tack on bought it without doing search on it and was too late so its true what I read on the forum these are garbage.....

can this be rebuilt to something more reliable?
for those who have done rebuilds on turbos whats the cost involved out the door....out of curiosity

TIA
Alan

Alan,
I am sorry to hear that. I had a 51 take a dump (burnt Exh wheel). Sent it back for a rebuild. Had it upgraded to a 53. That lasted about 30 miles then...boom. Exh wheel blew apart. PTE told me it was a harmonics issues and suggested I move down to a 52 to address the issue  Needless to say, I have a 64 now.

thanks for your reply

:D thats my luck on that draw! oh well I dont like to cry about hard cash down the tube but in another thought it wasnt as responsive as by 49 so as they say if the old dont go, how would the new come. in short
I happen to have a 4 bolt precision that looked way big my brother gave me some time ago Im waiting for info from someone on ebay to get back to me on an adapter 4 to 3 bolt cause Im running alcky/propane w/ 50 inj anyhow Im gonna assume there would be some way to shoe and make this other turbo run,

how long have you run your 64? mileage etc is it street driven I was looking into that turbo when I bought the 52pos door holder aka boat weight
Alan

Alan,
I have probably at least 7k street miles on my 64 and have yet to have a hiccup. Actually I bet I have a whole lot more miles on it then that, but it's hard to remember sometimes. :) Pulls much harder then my 51 did. I can't really say about the 64 compared to the 53 though...becuase it blew up right away.
HTH.......
