ANS Knock Alert Questions?

I have an ANS Knock Alert. When I start the car, the two switches are flipped to the "On" position, and both the visual light comes on and the beep is heard. However, when I get into it, the light will come on once in the 2nd to 3rd shift...but no beep. I changed the device twice. Is this normal...to get the visual w/o the beep at the same time?

It should do both at the same time. Mine works fine.

From the ANS instructions sheet.....

"The knock alert is flexible in that it can be 1) left off, 2) beep when a knock event occurs, 3) light a warning lamp when a knock event occurs, or 4) do both.

Yes, I know what the directions say. I spoke with Pete Barton and he said that it will beep if there's knock. He added that it will light if there is false knock. It just doesn't make sense..

Yes, but did Pete say that it will light AND beep under false knock? Or, did he say that it will just light? It SHOULD do both. The detector can't differentiate between false knock and detonation, so I'd say that the unit itself is defective.
