I can't figure out how that could advance the timing.

How could it spark before it actually gets the real signal?

Time travel into the future?

Seen one on ebay, but it sold crazy high.

That thing is old school i remember them being in the performance parts catalog in the early 1990's.
I don't think its plug and play really more like a stand alone setup IIRC.
