Any electricians in the house???

I am putting in an indoor wave pool (12x18 or so). I have a vaulted ceiling and will be hanging lights from it.

Any special regulations or concerns I need to be aware of? I have not found anything useful online.

My thoughts are GFI concerns and glass falling into the pool if something should break.

Good for you to ask ahead of time. Yes, its called the National Electrical Code. If you don't know it, let a qualified person, or at least someone that knows about electrical installations (where water is a concern), do the electrical hookups for you. There may be local construction codes where you live as well.

Then don't hang lights above the water (in the ceiling). Go for some wall mount lighting. Will you have a cover? You can easily cover it at lighting maintanence time if you do mount lights in the ceiling. Otherwise, what kind of activities are planned if you are worried something should break?
GFI's are a must for the receptacles in the room.

I am an electrician. Best advice for you is to get sealed, non-glass lights to put above the pool. It is code-worthy to place lights above pools. Make sure you use a GFI breaker and you'll be fine!!! Zeus, the broken glass I was referring to is if a bulb should happen to pop or something like that. The pool is actually for our dogs to work out in but I plan to take the occasional dip

It is a pool with powerful jets at one end. You do not do laps but you swim in place against the current.
