I have a subwoofer in the back of my car (which slammed into the rear fender going around a turn...ouch) Anyway, i took it out due to this problem, and when i lifted it off the carpet it was coverd in this black goo stuff. I lifted the cheesy carpet up, and their was all this rubbery looking waterproofing stuff that was all black and seemed to be coming off. Its like it was retaining water especially right near where the liscense plate was. When i craped away all this stuff, their seemed like someone had cut a hole in the floor and put a patch of somesort. I have no idea if anyone else's car is like this but it is really wierd looking.

Finally is there any sort of tray or kit i can put in once i clean out all the crap from the trunk that will stop water from going to the floor in the event a seal leaks, as well as looks good in the trunk, so i dont just have a bunch of old looking metal exposed coverd by a cruddy old trunk.

Your best bet might be to clean the trunk out really well, POR-15 the whole thing, and then get one of the embroidered custom trunk kits that a couple of the vendors sell (not sure of the best one). That way you'll be protected and look good.

Yeah I am definetly going to have to clean the crap outta that thing, its disgusting looking, and i wanna clean it up, I have heard of the Embroidary kits, but will i also need to purchase a the panels that cover up the spare tire spot, aswell as the other side of the trunk and the part that cover the rear seat?

I believe there are kits that include all the pieces, including covers for the back of the trunk and the spare tire area. I've seen some pics of guys with these kits installed but I'm not sure where they were and unfortunately don't have the bandwidth here to go looking around for them. They are out there though, hopefully some other guys will chime in with the suppliers. I know the name, but just can't think of it right now. They also do GN upholstery kits and leather interiors.
