I did a search on this and didn't find anything conclusive...

Anyone use one of these on a stock or lightly modded GN? Pros, cons? Is it worth it? opinions?

Devil Dog,
Never heard of anyone using one on a car. Have seen many for Harley's, snowmobiles and the like..Did you try a search on the 'net ?? Google or yahoo ??

I've yet to read about any variable vane turbo living for any extended abount of time. Smaller engines, seem to get by for a while, but again, I haven't read of any H-D that's had alot of miles on one.

Nice idea, maybe with Alky injection to steam clean the vanes, they'd last. Or some ceramic coated Ti, but that'd be $$$$.

Agree with Bruce,
Aerocharger "might" have gone outta business...not sure!?!?, however their units looked very promising; didn't have enough $$$ backing and time to grow. Go to the NSX prime and do some searches...a friend of mine had two of those units and they seemed to have taken a dive after ~70K miles and it cost him about ~$1k, EACH to repair!! Anywayz the last I 'heard' was they were looking to OEM for support and weren't doing aftermarket support any longer, which seems to be validated by this outfit taking and repairing the aerodyne units...

At the end, is it what it?...yeah 2 yrs ago...!! Remember the technology WAS/IS very innovative!! Now, on the other hand...assuming this info is correct NO way...

Hi Bruce,

International truck & engine uses VTG turbos on diesels extensively. Probably more than any other OEM in the world. Both the I6 (466 and 570 cid) have 500,000 mile VTG turbos by Borg Warner and ofcourse the 6.0 L powerstroke V8 in the Ford application uses a variable Garret.

But I agree I know of none in gasoline applications.

It would be interesting to see/hear how they work around the soot problem in a diesel with them.

Run hot and run hard....:)

Actually soot hasn't been a problem. The new engines are extremely clean compared to those built even only a few years ago.

I wish I could show you the cutaway sitting on my desk.

I've heard their much cleaner now, but having been around pulling tractors, I've always looked at the plume and it's coloring, as an indicator, or how much HP it's really making.

What?, you don't have a digitial camera?, :) :)
