I'm thinking of getting a Duttweiler "big neck" on my original, low mileage I/C.

From the pictures & writeup at GNTTYPE ( http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/turbo/duttneck.html ) and other sites ( http://home.att.net/~stevemon/IntercoolerMod.html ), it looks like a significant fabrication job, requiring a lot of skill & expertise ... especially if you want a top notch job.

Are there any skillful and REPUTABLE vendors who will do this job on an original I/C? A few weeks of downtime is OK, but not months of lame excuses (heh, I won't name "he who must not be named").

By "top notch" I mean:

- accurate alignment.
- careful, detail oriented prep (eg, new neck's casting flash removed).
- cuts & welds carefully transitioned for good air flow.
- all welds ground (grinded?) smooth.
- steps taken to prevent crap from getting into I/C.
- preserves "stock appearance" to the casual observer.
- a fair price (not necessarily "cheapest").

Painting I don't care about , as I can do a decent job on that.

Any competent welder should be able to do it for you for around 75 bucks. Thats what a freind of mine paid, and it came out nice.

I have a Dutt neck on my stock intercooler and other mods on it as well. I wish I could go back and get that money that I put into it back! All the mods did not seem to do that much. If I were you I would not do anything to the stock IC. I would save your money and get an aftermarket IC. If you are going for the stock look, take a look at the CAS V4.
