Any way to adjust shift points?

Why would you loosen the cable? I'm not doubting any builders here but I was always under the impression the cable was for line pressure and not intended to adjust shift points.

I think I would agree with that. In my case the cable was tighter than a piano wire, really overtightened actually. I had set it like that last fall when I was starting to notice issues with the band.

Even after loosening it 2 clicks, it's still tight. After adjustment, the TV cable bracket deflects just a little bit now when the throttle is approaching wide open. I took data files before and after the adjustments and recorded what the shifts look like to make sure the new settings don't look like they're allowing the trans to slide into gear. Still looks crisp and pulls the engine down hard.

Setting the cable looser so that it doesn't get "full pull" at 100% throttle would probably put the transmission at risk of slipping.

So after looking at all of my other postings in the transmission section I decided to post a follow up in this one. After a long crappy winter and some financial setbacks I finally got the trans and converer in that was purchased through Dave Husek. I got time to put some road time on the trans and I'm very happy with it. The shifts are quick but not harsh. I noticed the new lockup converter is at least 200rpm tighter cruising in town and doesn't seem to slip as much which I really like. Spool up is just as good if not slightly better than the ptc3200 that was in before. The biggest change is the acceleration which I'm sure is due to being more efficient. 3/4 throttle is rediculous on street tires. Much thanks to Dave Husek for helping me and my builder from start to finish and explaining to me what parts I need and what I don't to help with my budget. The car drives so well it almost feels stock until I step on the go pedal.
