I used to have it and it was alright, bulky/heavy and the adapter ring used to a leak a tad but IMO the DP's out there now are better.

i have one. when i went to disassemble the setup to send my turbo out for bearing assy rebuild, the sealing ring was cracked. used hi-temp RTV to seal when i put it back together. the elbow/DP made a difference when i first installed it, response, etc, but i agree that the newer one-piece DP's look more promising, however, with the flexibility to "rotate" the DP at the elbow, might provide more clearance.

I noticed some porosity with the casting that was sealed with some kind of high-temp epoxy, it has held up well through the years.

i got one here, that the wastegate puck is frozen on.. IMO there is alot better stuff out there these days

I've had one on my car hooked to a TA49 for about 7 years and it works great. I also like that it clears the turbo shield without any trimming. When I installed it, I lapped the donut in with valve lapping compound and it has never leaked.

One of our club members had one of the BGC DPs and changed to a TH DP and noticed no changes in his track times. He has a high 10 sec car.

I'm sorry to say that I worked for BGC in the mid 90's. The elbows make wonderful boat anchors.

Ever compared one to the other DPs? A little light for a boat anchor. Other than their poor business ethics they did sell some good performance parts. :D

I went to a Houston 3.5 and I'm very pleased with it. I guess if you don't own a yacht the BGC elbow still is a good boat anchor.

I've been running one of those since 90-91? I don't remember exactly when but at one time these were the only true 3" down pipes out there. Years(okay months) before Terry Houston anyway. Yeah the puck will seize if you leave it parked for weeks on end but a shot of PB Blaster and working the arm back and forth will make it swing freely again. Never, ever had a problem with it hitting anything either. The only thing I've done to enhanced it is to grind on the elbow a little so I could fit a bigger puck onto it. But the real reason it's still on my GN is because it looks 100% stock. The only tip off is the 3" down pipe. I wish Richard Clark would rewrite the rules in TSA so we could run them. Many years ago I ran my GN in the Stock and Street Prepared classes of SCCA Solo2. Mods like a bigger DP were a big No-No. Nobody ever questioned me about it. Not that there a lot of Turbo Buick experts racing there anyway but there were a few of them out there. I guess you could say the BGC DP is the equalvilent of what Mickey Thompson Super Scavengers are to the Buick V-8 guys. IMO a 3" DP is a 3" DP. No sense in changing something that aint broken anyway.
