Every block they tested must have failed that oil leak test.

Can't imagine what changing the main cap and drilling additional pan holes would accomplish.

I bought my 86 used and it came with a blue engine block. That should've been a red flag but I bought it anyway. :censored: :troll:Unfortunately it didn't come from Buick that way, it had a sticker on it that said Engine Connection so it was a cheap re-manufactured engine. Anywho... I broke that one and had to get another engine. That was 20 years ago and it's been running great ever since.

A couple of decades ago when you could still buy factory replacement VIN 7 short blocks from GM we bought one to install in a friends car. When we got it out of the crate and started moving it around there was obviously something loose rattling around inside. It turned out to be a spare freeze plug. It appears they drove one too far in and rather than retrieve it just installed another plug and went about their business.
