I need to get some info. on LED's because I am going to be using them in my car.

Just need to know what angle, brightness, what kind of wiring and such.

Anybody who has done this please reply.

Thanks,
Bo

Be very careful with lighting and check your state Vehicle Code regarding aftermarket lights. My state is very strict on this and pops 2 points on your driving record for anything over and above stock lighting except 1 pair driving lamps and 1 set of fog lamps....period. Even if you have lights INSIDE your vehicle and the glow can be seen from the outside is illegal here.

I dont know what state you are from? In the sunshine state, Tint is legal. Just about as dark as you want. As far as inspections...nada.:p

Only 2-3 LED's going in the ashtray.

There is a crap load of info on these things. Just trying to narrow it down to simpler forms.

Tint? I thought you asked about LED's

They're low power, last damn near forever and should be no different to hook up than a standard 12v bulb.

I have used Linrose superbright LED's with good success in displays I need to see during the day.

What are you trying to do in the ashtray?

Simple indicators or some sort of maplighting?

White and blue are now new styles that work well for background and maplighting.

Green and yellow require more MCD's output than the red ones.

They take low current usually 15-40 milliamperes.

I usually take 12.5 volts as the starting point to find what resistor I need to use in series with them.

Wide angle and clear lenses is what I like to use for best visibility. :)
