I'm just looking to pick up a spare mini starter for my TTA (live in the UK so will get one while in the US as shipping across the pond is $$$) ... got a mini starter on mine already and had it since 2004 or so (bought on the other turbobuick site) and have had no issues; however you never know so rather have a spare on the shelf but don't want to spend a fortune on one.

So anyone got experience with these?

Yes, correct bolts and shims, but i didn't have to use the shims. Terminals are in the right place,no worry there. Like i said before you will like it. I was able to bolt the starter in place and then reach up and connect the wires, plenty of room. Sure beats messing with the 18lb heavy starter that i had to hook up the wires while holding the starter before bolting it in place.

everyone still having good luck with their starters? I'm in the market, but don't want to ditch the reliable stocker for something that's going to leave me stranded.

Thanks!

I've been stranded twice by my gear reduction starter. They don't tell you that the gears are made of plastic. It also turns your motor over slower.

Depends on which one you get. If it's a PMG style then yes, it has plastic gears in them The one I posted above isn't made that way and we've had good success with them in the last 5 years of using them.:)

I was hoping that might be the case. Glad to hear that.

What's "PMG style". ??

I've been using the mini starter that i bought off ebay since mid February. My regal isn't a daily driver but i do drive it once a week and start it atleast 3 times per week just because i don't like leaving it sit and to keep everything working.

The mini starter turns the engine over a whole lot faster than the stock one ever did. It would be like comparing to the stock starter if you took the sparkplugs out of the engine and turned the key.

There is a one year warranty on it as well.

This is the only input i can offer at this time since i'm a new user but it does seem to work very well and the price of under $60.00 shipped without a core charge or turn in is pretty darn good.
