My GN has a slight hole in the metal brake line by the differential. I have seen ss metal kits for our cars. I was wondering if the metal line is somehow secured to the rear differential? I'm debating to buy the kit and install the line myself or take it in for repair? I don't have the car in front of me that's why I'm asking.

Just repaired one of the lines a few weeks ago when it got a pin hole. The lines are secured to the axle by little tabs that you can bend back. Once you replace the line, just bend the tabs back and it holds it again. I just got regular old brake line form the parts store and used a flaring kit & tube bender. Have heard the pre-bent SS kits are nice and should be super easy to install.

don't by the kit, i went to napa got straight lines with fittings that were correct length and bent my own up. i do have rear disc thou

Here's some pictures with the pre bent ones on my rear. Hardest part is the rubber line. All the connectors are usually rusted and you wind up chasing pipe until you find something not rusted. I'm just buying the kit next time.

Now the fuel line....that's another story!

Fuel lines are easy, at least you can repair with a rubber line if necessary. As Stefan said, hardest part of the brake lines are finding a fitting that will come apart thats not rusted solid. And once it does turn you just end up twisting the line off because it rusted itself to the actual fitting anyway.

Yea, it was going to cost $225 for the rear line by a brake shop. The kit for the entire car is around $200 and they are prebent with fittings. I have the wrenches and the fittings "look like" they might come off. Thanks for the input.
TRICKSIXPA: quit showing off;) Man, that set-up looks sweet!

Before you start, spray them down with PB Blaster for a day or so, the more the better. That helped a few of mine come apart in one piece. Good luck with it.
