I know people upgrade from stock sweep gauge to GNX replica gauges (VDO). But I was wondering if anyone has put anything different like autometer guages, or stewart warner. I don't really want any links to where i can buy them. I want to see pictures of some aftermarket gauges installed!!! thinking of doing stewart warner maximum performance gauges or autometer sport comp 2 gauges.

Here are mine. Some say its exsessive, and others agree  But its data acquasition(sp?) at its best. And yes I know there are wires going everywhere.

i'm pretty sure the GNX guages were Stewart Warner.
why not use them- they are the best looking gauges out there. nice clean and simple look that fits right into the nice clean and simple layout of the GN/Regal dash layout and interior scheme.
Autometers are nice and work- but they don't really visually flow with the rest of the interior.

I see what you mean actually. I'm trying to put a pro-touring look to it.My original plan was to put gauges out of a cutlass in, I might still do that or go with aftermarket gauges. Anyone done that before? swapped regal gauges with a cutlass? Nothing to fancy here but an improvement in stock

Heres an example of the kind of look I want. Heres a car with an outdated interior then somebodygave it the pro-touring look. not a big fan of the pedals, the red stitching, or the white gauges. If it were all black than yes that'd be more like it.

Heres my setup....I'm using Autometer Z Series gauges. I'm not too big a fan of white face gauges in these cars as I feel they don't flow well with the style of the interior. I also looked at the Autometer Traditional series. They have the same face and fonts as the Z series but have a stepped chrome bezel that seem to match the chrome accent strips in the car....IMHO. The aluminum panel was fabbed by board member Bent 6.

Stewart Warner gauges in a GNX style dash that was made by the now defunct gnxstyledash.com Performance Instruments that was ran by Tom Houser (gnut here on the forums), and if anyone has a way of contacting him I'd really like to talk to him about getting this thing fixed but he doesn't answer PMs.

I like how it flows...

What I don't like is that the tachometer is now giving me serious problems...

Thread about it here on this board...which I guess no one has any ideas on what it could be.

Post on the other board...where I've actually gotten some ideas to pursue to fix this.

Anyways, I think the Viper 791XV I had installed was wired in wrong for the past 4 years and it's caused the tachometer signal to finally get discombobulated. Gonna have it ripped out altogether, check to see what happens, and if that doesn't work...change out the Ignition Module.

yeah, I'm actually starting to like the look of those gauges. How do they look at night? As I said earlier I'm not the biggest fan of white. But it is unique

How much did that all cost you? gauges, aluminum board and stuff? What size gauges are those?

The speedo and tach are 3 3/8", and the rest are 2 1/16". I bought all the gauges from Summit. I don't remember how much all the gauges were as I didn't buy them all at one time....probably around $500?? The electric fuel pressure gauge was the most expensive piece, I do remember that.

The aluminum panel was $100. VSS sender, VSS converter, different speedo cable, Metripack connectors, LEDs...about $200. The wiring was free...I used the wires from a 3rd gen F body engine harness I had laying around to match the GN's factory wiring. The wiring looks factory because it has the correct color wiring.

All this stuff adds up real fast. And you still have to modify the dash, bezel, idiot lights (if desired), etc. It took me a couple weeks to do the whole conversion. I was happy with the outcome but I will NOT do this again, lol.

Glad to see one of the DIYers with a finished product - looks good!:) I told everyone when I did mine that it wasn't cheap or for the faint at heart and I know you now see what I was talking about. A lot of people thought it was easy and wanted something for nothing. I seriously wonder how many actually got finished. It definitely adds up QUICK. Thing that sucked the most was the fact that one of the guys that bought one of the original plates promptly went and copied it and started selling them on here. I now know how many of the vendors feel after putting in a ton of R&D time, sweat, and innovation only to have their product duplicated for half the price.

This is my original rendition - it's since been completely redone using Autometer Nexus gauges.

Those all look great! I still love the look of stock with a bunch of aftermarket addons!!!

Yeah I've wondered that too. I know enough people ordered the plates when you first put them up for sale. I think you and I are the only ones.;) If anyone else has finished theirs I'd love to see it.

I knew from the start it wasn't going to be that easy but I had a plan and did my research. And having the factory wiring diagram is mandatory! To me the wiring wasn't the hard part, just tedious. I think I was more nervous cutting away at the dash more than anything else.

Here is mine. Autometer ultra-lites. And no i did not steal this from bent6.

Still like mine

Mine sits in the closet waiting to be stuffed full of gauges. Looks great, thanks Bent6

Here's mine using Stewart Waner Maximum Performance gauges with red lighting.

Digital dash is where it's at. My gauges are Prosports.

They stay black until they have power.

Your efforts where worth it. That dash looks great!
