I got my new engine fired up with the same injectors from my old motor. Broke in the cam and when I let the idle down it was missing on two cylinders. I let it cool, fired it for a few seconds and shut it off. I felt the headers and #1 and 3 were cool while the rest were hot. I pulled the plug off the 1 and 3 injectors with it running and it made no difference in idle. Put a test light in the plug and it pulsed when I cranked it. Manually put 12v to the injectors and no click but one seemed like it had a dead short by the spark it made. These things worked perfect when I shut it down 3 years ago and were stored in a ziplock bag.

The reason I ask this is I sold the injectors a while back and then the guy I sold them to decided he didn't want them so I refunded his money. This guy is notorious in the LS1 world for ripping people off and I'm wondering if my good injectors got swapped out for bad ones in the week he had them. These injectors are 009s with less than 30,000 miles on them.

Send them out and have them flowed. Your answered your own guestion about what to do, when you mentioned being in doubt.

Fuel's something not to guess about, IMO.

Thanks for the reply. Injectors are going in the trash as soon as I get them off the car and I'm buying the new 60lbers. Just wondering if I got scammed or not. The guy is local so I would have no problems having a talk with him. Just don't want to falsely accuse someone.

I have had injectors stick from sitting. In most cases I have been able to free them up with some brake clean and an injector tester. Ofcourse what you said could also be a scenario.

Sorry to say but, you probably got scammed. Maybe you could at least sell the 4 good ones though. Just a thought.

I'll trade you Serrenia for those 50s. I'll even throw in some duct tape for her mouth :) .

I have had injectors go bad (get pretty badly clogged up anyway..) from sitting before. I think they developed varnish on the nozzle(s) from sitting with old gas (several years). I ended up running professional grade cleaner mounted on the fuel rail with a special kit, and it cleaned them right up.

I think older pintle style injectors (which these were) were more susceptible to this type of problem, though cleaning them up helped them out a very great deal. Xylene in the gas tank wasn't enough.

Good luck

for those of us without any cool setups to clean them out, would letting them sit in a solvent do any good? obviously just the lower end of the inj...not the whole thing...or would that hurt the bottom portion of the casing?

Being that my car is a hotair, the turbo has to come off to get the injectors out. If it were an 86-87 I would try cleaning them but it's too much trouble to chance them not working again. Anyone want some 009s for $20?

I'll take 'em...email or pm me when you have them out and ready to dump 'em....tia!
