intercooler kit for hot airs? id like to see pics before i go ahead and order it..

Spearco alternate installation

I had the Spearco mounted as a front mount for about a 6 months and then had a wreck which totaled my car. I decided to mount my intercooler in the stock 86-87 location to help my cooling situation. Before the car was running 195-210 at the hottest and I :( on that. I now have an 86-87 radiator and a n electroninc colling fan and the car runs at 170 at all times. Haven't really run the car to its potential yet, but I got a 13.40 at 102 out of it with a 2.2 60 ' YUCK!!

Anyway here's my site

Hope you find something there interesting

did you only use the pipes from spearco just cut them did you not have to have any pipes bent .I have been having a hell of a time getting my intercooler to go up front and would love to mount it were yours is please let me know all you can about your set up you have pics of on your site looks wicked.thanks

That looks really cool!!!!! I was thinking of doing that cause I was having a hard time to front mount it, but I removed the header panel and front bumper and that may take an hour but the room to move the IC around more than makes up for it. Yeah did you have any shops custom bend piping for you.

What I really need pics of are of the vacuum lines and close up pics of that. I am not sure if I have all that hooked up right and such. Spearco's hose diagram is good but I think they leave somethings off...........

Tahnks for the pics!!!!

Sent you some pic of it, i got a 12.65@108.5 out of mine with no scan tool ever hook up or any thing.

Pipes

The only pipe that is factory Spearco pipe is the pipe that goes to the intake at the back of the motor. The rest of the pipes were cut and arranged from different pipes from the Spearco kit.

All in all we cut out about FIVE FEET of Spearco pipe and I think it improved throttle response quite a bit.

I want to someday move the throttle body to after the turbo but that would take some serious work and my dad and i want to see what this setup has in it first before going totally crazy.

A couple of the hot-air guys saw my car at BG and they also saw the results of my 1 year thrash to get car ready for this year's show.

I hope you guys get some ideas from my dad and I's work and I hope you persue your ideas to make these hot-air slugs just a lil faster

so you did not have to have anyone bend pipes for you, you just cut the spearco ones.Is there any way you remember the exact cuts ?im sure i could figure that part out but mounting may be a pain My dad does work for boing but isnt a machinest. Thanks for any help

Spearco intercooler

You can see the pictures of the Spearco intercooler kit installed on Webshots.com look up member MrBuick101
as far as installation, you do not need to remove the front bumper. It fits between the stock grille and AC condensor. All I had to do is remove the high beam head light to push the pipes through the radiator support. The whole job took one weekend and that included new fuel injectors. It really helped with the knock issues, I run 16 psi on the street all the time with 93 octain gas. If I go above 16 psi I use the SMC alcohol injection. It is well worth the time and money to intercool.

Got some pics on my webshots too.......in my sig...........dont know if they will help?
