I had a few problems with the car last year so it was hard to narrow it to the wastegate then. Anyway i have all the other problems taken care of, it must be something with the wastegate. My problem is boost falls off whenever I hook a boost controller to the wastegate. It only seems to hold boost when I run off the spring pressure. Im using a manual pressure valve from turbonetic, (i tested the controller everything is fine) as soon as I crank on the valve to achieve more pressure, boost spikes to the desired level then slowly falls to the spring rate as rpm goes up. I just replace the diaphram no luck. Im running turbotechnology's kit, others have the same kit no problems.( well my kit is bigger, bigger crossover+ downpipe) i've been talking with george from turbo tech but we cant find the problem?

Im running a T76 turbo. Anyone have any ideas that could help me out?

Thanks

Did you replace the small teflon gasket on the center stud or adjuster on the Racegate? If you hooked up a air tank to each side of the Racegate you should be able to hear where it's leaking from.

Good Luck

Racegate

There are a couple of things,
1. where is the wategate mounted? Is it on the cross over, many people will insist they have no problem with it there, thats great, but it should be mounted in a location where all of the exhaust pulses have already merged.
2. What spring is in the gate, Black? Blue?
3. How is the vac/pres tubing run, off the intake? off the turbo outlet? this makes a difference.
4. Where is your manual valve mounted?
5. Do you have the tubing run correctly?

Also, not to sound ignorant, but do you completly understand how this valve is supposed to work. This helps in diagnosing problems.

As boost builds the pressure applied to the bottom of the diaphram will aid in reaching the pucs crack pressure, in turn by adjusting the manual controller, the pressure applied to the top of the diaphram aids in balancing the delta pressure on both sides of the system.
So, you may have the wrong spring in the gate, you may have the valve located in a less than ideal location, your tubing may be run incorrectly, the seal at the top of the adjuster may be leaking, or maybe you have some strange problem associated with your over all system.
Have you tried turning the adjuster down to increase the pressure of the spring? Good luck

When I pulled the racegate apart, the only gasket that I saw was the diaphram. The two metal plates between the diaphram were fine so i left them. There is more pieces to the wastegate? I think i will call turbonetics about that.

I have the wastegate mounted below the collector on the passanger header. Im receiving the signal for the gate from the pipe right out of the turbo. I have the controller mounted inside the car because that requires the least amount of hose.

Right now im using the strongest spring which is the black. I dial everything in with my felpro computer, timing does not seem to affect boost falling off, nor does the airfuel. I have played with both.

Anymore conclusions?

Thanks for the replies
