Hello, I was reffered to this site from www.chevelles.com

I have a 68 chevelle with a T-88 sbc, I see my idea about injecting alky/water is not ground breaking.. Has anyone here tryed it (or heard of someone) on a carb? (Blow through set up)

I cant see there being a problem... Any suggestions? Or complications?

I don't know if you would want to spray it before the carb. What I would look into if I was going to attempt this, is an aluminum spacer. Drill and tap into that and install some aquamist nozzles into it. Of course you would probably want (now forgive my ignorance, but I have never been up on carburetors) an intake that does not have the 4 holes. You would want it open under the carb.

I am using a Super Victor intake.

Correct me if I'm wrong.. I have always been under the impression that you should spray as early as possible in the intake charge (for most effective cooling).. The aluminum spacer is a good idea, will it cool fast enough?

Am I correct in thinking that "the spray" is a fine mist.. and that it should not interfere with normal carb operation?

It will cut your carb cfm if you inject it before the carb as water does not compress going through the venturies. Best bet is to inject just below the throttle blades. :) I heard that some where. Never thought it would be usefull:D

Since turbo engines don't need anymore CFM rating than a NA engine, lack of CFM's probably wouldn't be a problem on a small V8.

Google for NACA, and then look up In Cylinder Cooling.

Remember all those aircraft from WWII?.
They were the originators of water and Nitrous. All the accurate original research info., is back there. Unlike so many opinions, the fact are out there.

ie first figure out is you're looking for atomization, or vaporization.

The above is only if your serious in actually getting it to work right.

On *our* tractor we use about 2 gals a min at WOT, and about 60 PSI of boost.

I figured that it was so that you could get the water to mix better with the intake air. But with the Aquamist nozzles, it is more like a fog than a spray, so that shouldn't be a problem. These are the ones that I use. I got them from www.KCSAAB.com

I would be worried about corrosion in the carb if you injected before it. I would just use an aluminum spacer (like a nitrous plate) and put it in after the carb.
