Anyone know a good tranny shop in CA?

Yesterday, I was testing out my alchohol injection on my car, and everything was fine, and I was cranking up the boost... I was at about 20-22psi(my gauge only goes to 20) and I am doing about 90 or so, and the car shudders, like it hit a bump, and dies. I put the car in neutral, turn it back on, shift it into drive, and then give it some gas, and it feels like it was slipping. I get around a corner to a side street,maninly by coasting, and I turn the car off and then on, shift it into gear, and normally it jolts a little bit, but it barley jolted. Then I open the hood, and a little bit of smoke starts to rise up. I don't think I blew a head gasket cuz everything looked normall. Then I turn the car on, rev it a few times to make sure everything is ok with the engine, and put it into drive and give it some gas, and it goes nowhere. I put it back into park and try it again. Everytime I would give it gas when it was supposed to be in drive, i could hear a faint whine, and it would go noowhere,like somthing was slipping.

So Im pretty sure my tranny is shot. 20+psi on a TE45 killed it. I had a trannny cooler too..but good work that did..

So, does anyone know an affordable tranny shop that wont rape me? Im a senior in highschool and this is the last thing I need.

did you check your trans fluid level did you try putting car in reverse you could have blown tran line
 
car wont do anything besides park.if i put it in gear, its just like it is in neutral.

if i blew a line,would there be smoke?
 
blown line

blown or slow leak will not always cause smoke did you check fluid level in nutral ?

Yea..Im not exactly an expert at taking out trannys and putting them back in..

does your h school have a auto shop if so they could help you remove and install your trans jon
 
Let me give you some advise


if you have a te-45 and able to run 20+pounds(with motor still intact) then that leads me to believe that you know how to tune

trust me save your self time and headaches and just spend the money and get a billet one built(park the car for months,years if you have to)

im sure you have alot invested in your car as it is so you minus well fix the last weak link

Im no expert at tuning. I mean I was able to adjust the about of alchohol and when it tuned on to help me not bog down my car, but I mean im no Cal Hartline when it comes to tuning.

I've got prollly 3 grand or so in my car, but I dont want to make that 4 grand because of a tranny.

I guess Ill just have to drop it myself..thisll suck..
 
What price range should I be looking for when I call places?

How do I diagnose what exactly went wrong with my car?

I mean in all honesty, I'm new to this, and yeah I installed everything so far myself (DP,FMIC,TE45,ALKY) but that doesnt make me a tranny master. I mean yeah sure I was able to "tune" my car. I only got about 2 hours IF that to "test" it. It was just adjusting when the alky came on, how much at first, and how much in the top end.

I hate this, I hate this so much...

I wonder what my dyno would have been... Anyone wanna guess?

I was running about 20-22psi. My boost gauge only goes to 20,and I pinned it.

not trying to be an dick here, but your name has marley and 420 in it...marjiuana references.....you claim to be a senior, ok......you have a TE45 on your car but only 30 lb injectors????? WTF???

then you mention cal hartline, so you know who he his, but your original question is about CA trans shops???? HELLO MCFLY this board is owned by the best trans shop in CA!!!!!!!! how can you know who cal harline is but not bruce toelle?????

PTS is the shop, im sure there are a few posts you can search for with thier info...or possibly a banner ad to click on, OR A STICKY AT THE TOP OF THIS FORUM, OR MAKE THAT 2 OF THEM!!!!!

and you have 193 posts which means you are not a newbie to this board.....

what gives man????

1.I stopped smoking last year, this is the nick I use on all boards I post on.
2.I only have 30's on, because I have not recieved my 50's yet. The only reason I had the boost so high was because my O2's were safe, and I was getting zero knock.
3.I mentioned Cal Hartline because it was in reference to tuning cars.
4. I asked about tranny shops in general, I dont exactly have a tow truck to tow my 3400lb black heap in my driveway an hour and a half to sacramento, thus my asking for other transmission shops, to see if there is a local one.
Don't get pissed off at me because I MIGHT want to go to another shop. Is it now the rules that you have to go to PTS? I dodn't know where I signed on the dotted line where it said the only place I can go to is PTS.

What gives man? Whats up with YOUR attitude? If you would have taken the time, and READ what I posted, you would have seen A.)Why I only have 30's on. B.)Why I mentioned Cal Hartline and C.)That you should pay more attention.

Kickback. You may have Tyler Durden as you S/N, but that doesnt mean you get to be a skitzo too.

And FYI, I am about to call PTS.

No, PTS is NOT the only option you have. And yes, if you feel more comfortable with price or conveince, by all means , go ahead.
however, I can tell ya that in the Bay area there are not many if at all that really know these. that is why we get so much work from down there.
But in closing, No, PTS is not the only place and yes, you do not have to go there.
However, I will give you one hell of a trans that will do what you ask of it.

We will test the trans in our mule before we return it so you will know it works and how well. You will also be provided with a test sheet showing pressures and a few different things too.

I know I don't HAVE to go there, but it seems like the smart idea.
Im gonna try taking out a loan from my best friend's dad to see if I can pay it off. If I can get the money to you,what is your turnaround time on these trannys? If I end up doing that, I will definatly take you up on the offer of letting me watch you guys at work.

The good side of all this. After the tranny, I only need to buy 1 more part..my chip! I already got my valvesprings, so Im good to go!
