I came across a low mile (55k) all original 1970 cadillac eldorado. It has a 400hp 550tq 8.4 ltr 500cu stock cadillac engine. I was really surprised by the factory power numbers, figure it might make a nice weekend cruiser. I have no idea what to offer since I can only find a couple for sale on ebay with no bids and some with high for sale prices. Does anyone know what these actually sell for?

They sell for what the buyer is able to get.

what kind of condition?, fair to good?...you checked the hidden areas for rot yet?

Interior?
drive train
bushings...on and on and on

if the guy has (make offer) then he should be prepared to get low balled

I troll cadillacforums.com. They have helped me with my 90 Fleetwood. Had a couple of early 80's Eldorado's. The 70 model is a FWD tire fryer and a cool cruiser. Research it well and enjoy.

X2, except they help me with my new '09 CTS-V.

It's old school front wheel drive and heavy, about 10 mpg. well tuned.

A great tank like car.

And just about the best year for them too.

No clue what it's worth, that would depend on if it's a 55K garage queen or a 155K repaint rebuilt stored outside for years non driver.

A capacitive discharge ign. or the current aftermarket equivalent should net you a couple of mpg. extra.

I just got back from the auction. The car was pristine. No rust of any kind anywhere. Paint was perfect, no dings or scratches of any kind. Engine bay was very nice with factory stickers still on it. It had more like 66k miles, but looked like it just rolled off the show room floor. It started up and purred like a kitten. Anyone want to take a guess what it sold for? (I didnt get it)

WOW!!! Nice Caddy! That looks like something i'd buy and i'm NOT into Caddys. My guess is about $18-$20k??

I was gonna guess about $8K.

That was a fair and decent price for the description.

That would be a great winter driver with some L60 front snows.

No vinyl roof? :p

I thought 5k was a good deal, I just didnt know enough about it to take a chance on it. I could just imagine the look on my wifes face if i pulled in the driveway with that thing.
I still think its a interesting car. A front wheel drive 8.4 liter, I researched it some and it appears to hold the record for the largest engine put in a production passenger car.

I have a 72 eldo convertible and I LOVE it. I wish it had the 70 motor in it. Same 8.2 litre 501 but the 70 was 10:1 and the 72 was 8.5:1 235 HP 385 torque. Still roasts the front tires. 1970 was pretty much the end of the high compression motors. I say BUY IT!! Fun Car
