I considered getting this turbo with the BB option, but ended up getting a GT6152. One reason was to save money (and I already had the converter so I didn't really need the BB). One other thing is that the CPT61 turbo has a 4" inlet. I already had money invested in my chrome 3" MAF pipe and didn't really want it to go to waste so I would have had to buy a good 4->3 adaptor hose like BuickGN sells along with a thing to move the IAC out of the way. Just more money I would have had to spend for something I probably didn't need. Powerwise and stall wise I think the two turbos are very similar, while the BB option may be better if you don't already have a converter.
There's not a whole lot of info on that turbo out there, but there's a few mentions of it and the older model (CPT62?) that it replaced if you look on all of the TB web sites. Also look for the CPT66 as its the next one up, but similar. If I would have had ported heads and a better IC I would have went with the CPT66BB. Probably would need bigger injectors, but maybe not with the alky or propain.
Probably the main reason I didn't get the CPT61 was that I got a gift cert for xmas for Full Throttle.
as far as i know the CP designation is for cottons performance , his are turbonetics turbos so Id guess thats the T , the 61 would be the wheel and compressor housing configuration ,
turbonetics makes good stuff built for racing ,
if you want to know about the CPT61 best advice is call jack cotton ,
