We've got Comcast cable service right now. We have a coaxal (sp?) coming into the house that goes into a splitter. One line to the TV, one to the computer. I would like to get a line going to another room for another tv and another computer. Is this do-able? Not like the old days where every TV needed a box.

I'm not an expert, but I'm 99% sure that you can't have 2 lines coming into 2 seperate cable modems, if that's what you're asking. You'll probably need a router to get the mult pc's connected. They're getting pretty cheap, though. You should be able to get a second line coming in for the other tv. You don't want to split the one line too many times, esp with the computer using it.

I had bought a wireless router, but one look at the directions and said yea right. It looked very tough to hook up and said that changing your configurations could cause permanent damage to the main computer, which my dad wasn't too hot on the idea.

You can put a second ethernet card in the main pc and use a "switch"available at compusa etc then run a proxy program. There is one at analogx.com that I have used for years without trouble.I am on the proxied pc right now as a matter of fact It is not simple but can't be too complicated if I was able to figure it out. There is no permanent or any damage done by this.

You may split the cable but think of it as a water pipe with a certain PSI. Every time you split it your PSI (signal) decreases. You can't split it very much and keep your cable modem's performance up, if at all. This isn't to mention you really should use nothing less than RG6 coaxial cable for best signal transmission and know how to cut cable fittings PROPERLY.

As far as running mulitple PCs you should simply just go with wireless B or G router. You can then get wireless PC or PCMCIA (laptop) cards for as many computers you wish in your house. It's quite easy. Now networking/file/printer sharing can be a little tricky if you're not up on that stuff.

I have mine set up with 128 bit WEP encryption for security, multiple PC's with file/drive sharing and one printer that all my PCs print to. It's very nice once you have it done. You're very limited with a HUB or Switch, not to mention you're relaged to a wire. A HUB is basically a very dumb network traffic light, a Switch is a bit smarter but not as versitle as a Router. A router automatically assigns IP addresses to connecting PCs whereas the other two dummies can't without supporting software.
