Here's a screwed up story...
When I was in the Navy, I became good friends with a guy from Texas (let's call him "Eddie"). We were in boot together, went through corps school, were stationed together after that for about a year and went to the same advanced tech school (C-school) in Bethesda, with him being in the class before me.
We became good friends, both lived in the barracks. Each of us dating and partying with women...typical of guys in their late teens/early twenties. He spent a few weekends with me at my parents' house in Pa., partying and having a good time. We spent lots of nights in Georgetown with other people from the base.
We both ended up being stationed in San Diego for the remainder of our school. It was about a 10-month rotation. I started hanging around with some locals (non-military), spent most of my time in the gym training (weights) and hanging out doing the car thing on Saturdays at the Krispy Kreme out on Clairmont Mesa. Eddie and I were doing our seperate things. He became involved with the Boy Scouts as a leader, or whatever they call it. He went on hikes, and campouts, took the kids to events and seemed to enjoy it. At work, we used to kid with him about messing with the kids. We'd ask him if he was jumping in the sleeping bags with them, playing "hide the sausage"...just general sh*t talking that anybody who was in the military did. He'd get very agitated by it. Eddie would usually give one of us a shove and storm off, fuming for the rest of the day. It was fun to pull his chain, but after awhile, we let it go because it really seemed to bother him.
After his school was over, he stayed in San Diego. I went back to Bethesda. I stayed in contact with him for a year or two, then things got strange. I called out to him one day, and he wasn't working in Radiology (we were Nuclear Med techs), but had been transferred to supply. Knowing that Nucs were like gold to the Navy Hospitals, I couldn't figure out why, but he claimed he had a blowout with the chief and got booted out of the department. I talked to him a few times over the next few months, and he seemed more and more strange. One day I called the Radiology department and spoke with the LPO, who had been in school with me. He proceeded to tell me that he, "did everything" he could for Eddie, and that Eddie "needed help". At this point, I was confused. He thought I knew what had been happening.
As it turns out, Eddie, with whom I had been very good friends for several years, had been accused of molesting kids in his Boy Scout troop. There were investigations by the S.D. county police, and not surprisingly, there were complaints lodged at Naval Hospital S.D.. He had also been accused of such actions in the department. I was shocked!
In the end, and as I understand it, he was dishonorably discharged and went to jail. He lost his license to practice nuclear med and was probably going back to Texas after he got released on probation.
It was unbelievable. Being a father of 3 awesome boys, I can't imagine how these monsters think. I can't stand to see news reports of abducted, abused or molested children. These people deserve everything they get.
I hear cons with short eyes have a rough go in prison.
