I have the intake removed, I'm switching the cam, lifters, springs, retainers. I have new injectors and an Chip. Is there anything else I could do (cheaply) with the intake off? I don't have money for a porting job,

any ideas? thanks

I would try to gasket match the intake, or if the heads are off you could do both the heads and intake. If you have the tool to do it it will cost you nothing.

ok, i port matched the intake. I put the gasket up to the heads and it looked really close to being matched so i had to do alot of work on the intake. ANYTHING else?

thanks

Have the injectors flowed/balanced. Chuck Leeper does them for about $100. Its well worth it.

With the heads its not so much port matching (cause its already there) but more smmothing out the inner surfaces of the prots and the combustion chamber of the heads. It also helps to port the area where the intake valve enters the port.

The inner surface of the heads is quite rough with casting marks etc. This will improve air flow.

I removed my EGR 'hump' in the entrance area of my intake, smoothing it out to allow for a flat floor where the turbocharged air enters the intake.

Check out my pics of the job if u like:
