Are aftermarket pistons EXACTLY the same size as stock?

The reason I ask is this: I got Cippola'd on a "never fired standard bore short block" from another board member (who shall remain nameless at this point). It had used stock pistons in it. I disassembled it and the bores mic'd out w/ .006" -.007" (taper in the bores) skirt clearance. Any chance that aftermarket pistons will fill the holes any better. Either way I've got to buy pistons but it might save me a bore job (I've already gotten that from this a**hole that ripped me off!! LOL)

Taper bores?

That's a bitch.. BTHT! Have you had a "prayer meeting" w/ this A%$hole??
As for the taper in the bores, there's only 1 way to fix it and that's to bore it over and use new pistons. .006-.007 is WAY too much for a factory piston and about double what alot of forged mfgrs recommend. Especially if it's tapered wear.

Bore it, hone it w/ a plate and do it right... You'll be $$$ ahead.;)

That's what I figured.

Chuck,
Thanks for confirming what I suspected. I don't know what I'm gonna do. I've got a good .030 block that I can use. I'm uneasy about putting a bunch of money into the motor I bought. The crank is good but everything else he told me was a LIE! There's gonna be litigation and I don't want some judge to rule in my favor and tell him to refund my $$$ and for me to give him his motor back. This is what happens when you ignore the advise of reputable board members. I was warned not to deal w/this scumbag but gave him the benefit of the doubt after having the motor visually inspected by an impartial third party. Of course, it LOOKED fine, but the micrometer tells the real tale.

JUNK???

I was just in a situation like this... The local BMW A#Shole had some powder coating done at a friend of mine's shop. He proceeded to assemble the engine WITHOUT cleaning the blasting media out of the intake plenum!!! Needless to say, it was trash in 5 minutes. He then proceeded to redo the engine w/ the salvageable parts, THEN he sued my bud for $10,000!! The attys said I was to be the "official" teardown shop, where all would observe the failed parts, once they were removed from the engine. The law threw it out as the evidence, aka, ALL the parts were not available as evidence...
The moral of the story: Get another engine and build it. Keep ALL the evidence, including oil samples, etc, and let it ROLL!! BE SURE to get the witnesses that saw the teardown to cooborate the story.

Good luck,..;) ;)
