I purchased my 87gn in June and it has the "large" ATR wastegate and 3" downpipe. I recently had another engine put in the car and I now have about 5k miles on the motor. When I try to get into it, the boost runs past 20lbs, even as much as 23 b4 I get out of the gas. I called ATR and they had me back the set screw out and then run it back down until it snugs. They then told me to tighten it down 2 full turns. They said this is where they set all of them, and this should be around 16 lbs. I tried this w/ no change. Still spiking at 23 lbs. I then backed the screw out, tightened till snug, and then tightened 1/2 turn. I took the car out and had the same results, 23lbs and was still climbing.
I don't have the bleeder valve. Its the set up that runs to a solenoid on the passenger side valve cover.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks & Blessings,
Jack Osborne

Dont really know that set up but have you checked ALL your hoses for leaks? My boost was going crazy & it was a bad hose.
Just a thought? Someone who knows the set-up should have a better idea. I do remember a post regarding the unit & the same kind of problem. Good Luck!

I had this same problem. The WG is not strong enough to support the power your putting throught it. Even with the 18lb spring in there the boost would still spike. I called several venders about this same problem. I got the same answer from all of them, that the deltagate is not strong enough. Bottom line is that you need a Racegate not a deltagate. The Racegates are alot better and stronger on the higher horse power cars.

Hope that helps.

With the ATR gate, you want to check to make sure the gate itself is in good condition. The "valve guide" that the valve rides in can become worn and allow exhaust pressure to leak into the diaphram area. ATR sell all the parts to rebuild this gate.

If the gate is in good condition, are you using boost reference on the top of the diaphram? If so, decrease (regulate) the amount of boost to the top of the diaphram. This should allow the gate to open quicker and decrease your intake manifold pressure.
