I was wondering if there is any way to fab my own audible knock alarm. Could a small speaker be wired into the knock gauge somehow?

I believe you'd need more than just a speaker. You'd need a buzzer or something that makes noise. Just putting a speaker there.. Where is it gonna get the sound from?

I wouldn't be caught without my Caspers Knock Alarm. When the go-pedal is down, most of my eye movement is spent on what's up ahead and staying straight. The alarm is the best thing since sliced bread.

If you can live with all the false alarms maybe.

I unhooked mine after the first week, POS like a volt booster in my mind, but that's just my opinion.

I know where you can get a new one [used for less than one week] for half price.

Let me know I'll ship it out ASAP.

The only false alarm I got was when I lost traction off the line in the 1/4 and kept my foot into it a bit longer than I should. Rev's went waaay up,and the alarm went off.

Mine also started to go off when the old fuel pump was giving up under boost.

It makes a short squeal on cranking due to the starter engaging. "Beeeep"...Ok,it's working!

No problems with mine. Glad I have it.

Are you talking about using the whisper2000 device with alligator clip? I've been thinking of using this for tuning purposes since my car. The professional devices are way over priced imo.
