Broaching is used to remove metal in a workpiece.
A Broaching tool consists of a series of cutting teeth, like a saw, except that each tooth is progressively larger than its predecessor. As the tapered tool passes the workpiece, each tooth removes slightly more material until, at the large end of the taper, the process is complete.
Broaching is a rapid process;it is also reliable, accurate and repeatable, making it the preferred alternative to conventional machining operations such as milling, grinding and reaming.
